About Vis Viva

The Latin vis viva is translated, roughly, as “active force.” Though this blog receives its namesake from a somewhat recondite 17th century debate over the force inherent in natural bodies, an “active force” is also what this blog is meant to be, whether it is in discussing issues in philosophy, psychology, politics, biology, and general science and academic life, or—as this is also a dump for humorous videos and satire—when trying to find creative ways of commenting on this peculiar world.
